Abstract:
Objective To investigate the distribution of dengue vectors and their activity pattern and spread trend, and assess the risk of dengue in Nyingchi city, Xizang Autonomous Region, China, and to provide a basis for dengue prevention and control.
Methods During August 2019, a mosquito vector survey was conducted at sampling points when mosquitoes were active. Adult mosquitoes were captured by light trapping method and human-baited landing method, while larval mosquitoes were collected by the pipette method. Both morphological and molecular biology species identification were conducted for mosquitoes. Excel 2021 was used for data analysis.
Results By light trapping, a total of 3 477 adult mosquitoes were collected, but no Aedes albopictus was found. By human-baited trapping, a total of 171 adult mosquitoes were collected, including 158 Ae. albopictus specimens from Xiachayu Town of Changyu County (mean of density, 26.33 individuals/human·hour) and 5, 8, and 1 Culex pipiens pallens specimens from the Ba Yi district of Nyingchi City, Milin City, and Bomi County, respectively. The mosquito larvaes collected in Xiachayu Town were identified as Ae. albopictus, while those in the other areas were all Cx. pipiens pallens.
Conclusion The dengue vector Ae. albopictus in Nyingchi city is distributed in Motuo County and Xiachayu Town and not found in the other regions, indicating that the vector has not been diffused. Xiachayu Town has a potential risk of dengue transmission from neighbor regions or countries. Motuo County has a distribution of Ae. albopictus, but with a low dengue risk. Bayi District has a potential but low risk of the importation and colonization of Ae. albopictus.
