Objective To explore the application and teaching effectiveness of W2H2 teaching method in drinking water disinfection practice lesson in the course of Environmental Hygiene for undergraduate clinical medicine students.
Methods The five-year clinical medicine students enrolled in 2020 and 2021 in the Air Force Medical University were selected as the research objects. The control group received the traditional practice lesson teaching mode, and the experimental group received the W2H2 teaching mode. The learning effectiveness and course satisfaction were evaluated by means of formative assessment score analysis and questionnaire survey.
Results The excellent rate of formative assessment was significantly higher in the W2H2 teaching group compared with the traditional teaching control group (P < 0.01). Course satisfaction was also significantly improved in terms of content difficulty (P < 0.05), interest of course form (P < 0.01), effectiveness of teaching method (P < 0.01), and overall course satisfaction (P < 0.01).
Conclusion In this drinking water disinfection practice lesson in the course of Environmental Hygiene for undergraduate clinical medicine students, the W2H2 teaching method effectively improved the teaching effectiveness and teaching quality, demonstrating high application value.
