Evaluation on the Capability of Detecting TVOCs in Indoor Air in Certified Labs in Beijing

    • Objectives To provide methods of external quality control in order to evaluate the capability of certified labs in Beijing on detecting total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) in indoor air.
Methods The labs participating in the proficiency testing (PT) were divided into 3 groups, and 16 labs in each group. The capability of labs was evaluated by Robust Stat and Expert (robust statistical methods combined with expert comments).
Results The results of 39 labs (81.2%) were satisfactory, but the results of 9 labs (18.8%) were dissatisfactory.
Conclusion The competence of most labs participating in the PT of detecting TVOCs in indoor air was good.
